RWT stands for Red Winemaking Trial — the internal name for Penfolds' experiment with French oak for Shiraz, as opposed to the American oak used for Grange. The result is a Barossa Valley Shiraz of extraordinary refinement and elegance: dark plum and blackberry, fine-grained tannins, and a savoury, spiced complexity that French oak imparts.
